Oliver Stone Accidentally Reveals "Why Bush Will Win"

Oliver_Stone.jpg

In this article in MSNBC, "Director" Oliver Stone uncovers a key truth about the election (Snippet)

Of George W. Bush, he says: “He’s worse than Nixon in his vulgarity. He looks like he shops at Wal-Mart. That’s not what the president is supposed to be. He has no intellectual curiosity and is proud of it.

(End Snip...)

I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart, but I cant help but notice that Wal-Mart is always chock full of people, no matter what time of day it is or how far away the store is from any population. "Regular People" shop at Wal-Mart Mr. Stone, you know them, thats the people who used to go to your movies before someone told you that you were an 'artist'?

And heres another shocker for you Mr. Stone. The type of people who shop at Wal-Mart, drive pick ups, listen to country music, work at factories, have more than one kid and still dont have a nanny or even want one and still send their kids to public school...

They vote Republican.

20 years ago, half of them voted Democrat, 30 Years ago, they ALL voted Democrat. Today, Democrat Voting Wal-Mart shoppers are far and few between. This should be core Democrat territory, but its because of elitist snobbery offered up by people like you and yours that they've changed sides and voted Republican.

Ollie baby, You know what else?, They dont go to your movies anymore do they? Hows that Alexander flick doing babe...?

Mr. Stone, You think you just insulted the President, but what you did is remind everyone who walks through the door today at Wal-Mart who is the man who best represents them. Every time that door opens at Wal-Mart is another ballot in the box of George W. Bush. Theres alot of Wal-Marts, and they all have a lot of doors, and they are swinging open and closed all day long.

With People who are voting for George W. Bush.

What we have here is the politics of the sneer, nothing more, nothing less. Oliver truly does believe he is smarter than everybody else. I never knew picking up a 3-pack of boxer shorts could so symbolic...

Love your blog - and your design is gorgeous!

I like Oliver Stone - one of the worst people in a disgusting business - talking about the "vulgarity" of our intellectually most gifted President, Nixon. Anyone who goes to the Nixon Library and sees the books from Nixon's collection and reads Nixon's own writings knows this. Olivah would be lucky to get through the Classics Comics Illustrated versions of the books Nixon read.

Congratulations on your new blog.

You've just been "Rant-lanched"! :-D

Oh, and Oliver Stone can kiss my ass. (On second thought, he can't. I don't want to catch whatever disease he's got.)

Indeed. Boston Brahma Boogie? That dog don't hunt with us mere mortals making less than 100k a year.

Frank---Congradulations on your new blog. Was just directed here from Rantburg.
Barbara---Oh, the imagery! Better get back to the Oliver Stone subject at hand. People who need to sneer and degrate other people in order to make themselves or their cause look good are people of weak and low moral character. The only thing that I can figure out is that their hate of someone like President Bush is pathological. They must figure that Bush and the path that he walks is the path of death and they are afraid of death or something. I saw the same thing that the Left projected on Lyndon Johnson in the 60s. Regardless of one's opinion of President Johnson, the vietnam war and US policy, the hate heaped upon him was pathological. And that ain't healthy for anyone.

Why is Oliver Stone's opinion important? He has the intellectual horsepower of the first hybrid car. Meager amounts sold, unable to keep up with it peers, popular only with the stylish elite with more money than brains.

I'll bet you won't find many hybrid cars in a Walmart parking lot, it's stores are full of intelligent shoppers.

I know I know, his silly comments are only a means to make a point.

Alaska Paul - Barbara, Welcome to the new place! I appreciate you visiting. I've enjoyed your work at Rantburg for a good long time. It will be good to get your feedback on things.

Gary B: Oliver Stones opinion is not important to me, its important to MSNBC, They agree with it, and dont find it insulting and thats why I think its important.

This is the very definition of a liberal - someone who fancies themself so sophisticated and knowledgeable that they should be making decisions for the rest of us because they just know what is right and good. I had the unpleasant experience this past weekend of attending a wedding and sitting next to two such textbook liberals bemoan the fact that there just aren't enough sophisticated and enlightened people in this country to send GWB packing. If only more of us were more like them, this country would be a better place. As my father always told me, "They're only liberal if you agree with them."

Hey. Wait a minute. Why does shopping at Walmart have to be a political statement?

Posted by: Peter Boston at October 14, 2004 04:47 AM

By itself its not, but demographically it has become one. From a demographics standpoint, Wal mart shoppers represent what used to be a core democrat constituency. But today, this is core Republican territory.

When Oliver Stone says "He looks like he shops at Wal mart" , He has amde a value statement. Now, in 1960 a democrat would have been proud of someone who shops at Wal Mart as this matched core party principles.

Today, It does not. People who shop at Wal-Mart are just people, their values are about the same as they would have been in 1960, but what has changed is the party that they more closely identify with has flipped in a different direction.

If it were just Oliver stone saying what he said, it would mean very little, but there are a whole lot of Democrats who feel as he does.

In 1960, core Republican constituencies were big cities and academia. Democrats owned the heartland and the middle class. Today, that situation is almost reversed.

When I was in college, and perpetually single, my friend John (who was also perpetually single) and I, in typical college male fashion, spent much time discussing where we needed to go to find hot women. More than once, John answered with "Wal-Mart at 1:00 in the morning." We laughed for a while, and went on to other things.

But the crazy thing is that it's true, at least here in Huntsville, Alabama. Something happens at about 12:00 or so at Wal-Mart and suddenly the place is just crawling with very attractive women. I have absolutely no idea why this is, but the effect seems to last until about 2, 2:30ish.

I think Stone's just going to Wal-Mart at entirely the wrong time, is all.

As someone with a background in law enforcement I know exactly why this is so. Some of those women are waitresses, some are dancers at strip clubs, and they're looking for a way to spend the tips that are burning a hole in their pocket.

The main thing that struck me about Ollie's pic above is how yellow his teeth are. Hasn't that guy ever heard of a toothbrush? I bet his breath is enough to gag a maggot.
