Powell resigns as Secretary of State.
6 months from now, Cheney steps down due to "health" reasons.
Bush then nominates Powell for VP. Senate agrees.

Rumsfeld resigns as Secretary of State in 2005. McCain nominated since his term expires in 2006. Senate agrees.

2007 - Vice President Powell runs for President, he picks McCain as his Vice President. 49 State sweep.

Nah, none of that's gonna happen. Cheney will stay the whole way. Rumsfeld ain't gonna be Sec of State, Condi's got that job. '08 will be wide open, but I figure Dean will be Dem nominee, party figures they owe him. He'll pick Hellary as VP. Reps go with Frist/Owens, who will clean up, win about 400 EVs, losing CA, NY, and New England.

My wife's scenario (from 2+ years ago) is amazing similar, except Condi get the VP nod and runs against Hillary
