I’ve got rights...

During the arrest, a witness said: “I heard one of them say ‘I’ve got rights’.”

Rights. Dont talk to me about rights. You leave your country, you come to the UK, they open their arms and allow you in.

And then you kill them. And when they track you down like the rat that you are, you now cry " Ive got my rights".

And what about the rights of Catherine Johnson? She lost a husband. Her husband leaves behind two kids Christopher, aged nine, and six-year-old Rebekah.

They will live with a hole in the fabric of their lives where their father used to be. When they graduate from school, when they marry, when they go on to have kids of their own, there will always be a moment when they stop to think how much they wish that their dad was there with them. They will go through Christmas after Christmas, birthday after birthday only to be quietly reminded of the horror that you gave them in trade for their fathers life. And somehow you think taking their fathers life makes you a "big brave Jihadi hero".

It doesnt, it just makes you a coward.

This is all that the big brave Jihadis of Islam can do. No muslim 'Rockets to the Moon', no Muslim Nobel prize for a cure to cancer, no improvement on the ability to feed Muslim people, no water purification plants, no ships, no aircraft, no cars, books, ideas. Islamo-fascism can only do one thing, Kill. Kill the jews, kill the infidels, Kill the Jihadis, Kill innocent Iraqis, Kill, Kill, Kill.

Kill even the innocent father of Christopher and Rebekah. Mad dogs can kill, rats can kill, wolves can kill, even bacteria can kill, but it takes a man to make a family and that is something you will never do.

And yet, all you can do now is cry "I've got my rights". What a wincing, despicable coward. When they captured you, you cried that you were worried about being shot. Gosh, I'm sorry I thought you were a "big brave Jihadi warrior" more than willing to lay down your life for the cause, apparently not, because as you say " You got rights".

Do you have any idea why "you got rights" and where they came from?

Well let me tell you. About 1000 years ago and 30 miles from where you are, a bunch of guys told the king of England that they had rights too. They got the king to sign a piece of paper called " the great charter", and from that one piece of paper, the whole of English common law was born, and with it the idea of equality of human rights. A few hundred years later, they developed this idea called the "parliament" where people voted on their representatives and formed a government, that while it as subordinate to the king it began to shift power from the monarch to that of the governed. The start of the ideas of "freedom" and "liberty" and yes "rights" began in the country you and your group of cowards is working so hard to destroy.

Yeah, you “got your rights”, and you had to come to England to get them. You had to go to the land of the infidels to learn you weren’t a farm animal. Your own people, the Arabs, the people of Islam never gave you rights, they enslaved you and finally created conditions so deplorable that you had to leave, and where did you go? You went to England.

In the 1000 years since those English gentlemen made their king agree in writing that they were people too, your people have never made a move to establish the “rights” of human beings. Saudi Arabia kept slaves until 1966, and yet the Arab world has said nothing.

1000 years ago, Islam was the highest culture in the western world, today it’s the bottom of the world. Do you see a connection, because I do.

Welcome to England Mr. Muktar Mohammed-Said, and you are correct - you do have rights! You will be put on trial, you will be given legal protection, you will have your case overseen by several layers of adjudication which will do its very best to protect your rights. None of those things will you find in your pure islamic homeland, you will find them in England, the Capital of the infidel west.

While you will be fairly tried for your crimes by the infidels, you can also be assured that you will not be killed for your crimes,like you would have had you committed the same crimes in your homeland. You will get life in prison. The irony of your being imprisoned in the country that has given you more freedom than any of your family has ever known is not lost on me, and I hope its not lost on you.

You should know that while you will spend the rest of your life behind bars in a cold dank prison in northern England, the children of Adrian and Catherine Johnson will still go on with their lives in freedom. You will never have children. Your line ends here. While they will always be sad at the loss of their father, they will be living in freedom. Another generation born of infidels, expanding, growing, improving find better ways to live, making the world a better place, while you grow old and arthritic behind bars, imprisoned by the very people you tried to destroy. People who welcomed you into their homes, helped you get started. People you then tried to kill.

In a generation, the Arab world will be democratized, and you will still be sitting in a cell wishing for death, but the English wont give it to you.

We have a word for that too Mr. Muktar Mohammed-Said; we call it justice. Now watch as the world goes on without you.

Pullout

Now that the cause is lost, America is pulling troops out of occupation duty. The foreign policy established by a President that many once considered being illegitimate and has inflamed many countries including former allies to break publicly against the nation, is finally at an end.

Of course, I’m talking of the US Army leaving Germany.

From the UK Guardian:

"Eleven bases in and around the Bavarian city of Wuerzburg will be handed over to the German government by September 2007, the Army's European headquarters in Heidelberg said. Two more bases near Wuerzburg will close and be handed over in subsequent years.

The Defense Department said the changes affect about 6,100 soldiers and 11,000 family members as well as about 1,000 Army civilian employees and 1,000 civilians employed locally.

The closures announced Friday are part of plans for most of the Wuerzburg-based 1st Infantry Division to return to the United States in mid-2006 and plans to relocate, convert and deactivate other parts of the Army's 5th Corps. The military also has said it will move the Wiesbaden-based 1st Armored Division - the other main element of 5th Corps - out of Germany..."

The last European war, fought 60 years ago, resulted in an occupation and a rebuilding of a foreign nation at unprecedented levels. The long term occupation of a sovereign nation by foreigners who didn’t speak the language didn’t understand the culture, who before they occupied their nation exposed it to a ferocious bombing, killing hundreds of thousands of its civilians, then placing their nations leaders on trial and executing them for their crimes.

What was the result? A nation at the center of Europe that is now at peace with its neighbors for the first time in millennia. A nation that was once the center of strife for every European generation since 1870 is now a nation so pacifist that it redefines the center of the leftist world. The German Green party and its Communist allies are strongest of all in Germany.

To be sure, Germany still has a military and its members are professional and experts in their field, but to say that the German military and the German people hold onto any illusions about the role of the military in a free democracy as they one did is to misunderstand everything that Germany has learned.

There was a time when the leader of Germany believed that the people in America were weak degenerates, who because of their low breeding and love of democracy could not stand against the strong will of the German superman. He was not alone, many people, smart people, people who should’ve known better, people who in other roles were my heroes, also thought that we didn’t stand a chance against the might of German Nazi ideology.

At the core of the war our grandfathers fought was a simple idea, that idea was “Are humans the instrument of the state, or is the state the instrument of the people”? Most of the rest of the world though that the battle was ‘Fascism vs. Communism”, but the battle was actually freedom against slavery. However, Americans spent the early years of the war, simply wishing nothing more than to be left alone. While our English cousins were being bombed in their homes with iron provided to the Nazis from the Soviet Union, our government, many celebrities and “progressives” worked day and night to stop our President from aiding the English in their struggle against Nazi tyranny.

What truly horrified our grandparents was that the stakes were so high. It wasn’t a flag or a government that was changing; it was the nature of mankind itself. There was no safe haven from the horror; our enemies had made their position clear. There were ‘Aryans” and everyone else, no in-between. There was no safe middle. There was no cultural diversity and understanding, no “peaceful coexistence”. They made their position clear, if you weren’t German, you weren’t safe anywhere, and no matter who you were, if you were Jewish, you were as good as dead, no matter your station in life, no matter your patriotism to Germany in the First World War.

When the war started, our grandparents weren’t so sure we could win, but they also knew they didn’t have any choice, the war came to them, they couldn’t hide from it anymore.

When the war started, the enemy was 10 feet tall. The Germans had overrun the French Army, an Army that was twice the size of the German Army. The English had been humiliated and evacuated from the shores of France, and again from Norway. By the time of the “Battle of Britain” The Germans had driven the English from all of Europe and had their small island within a U-boat blockade. At the time of the Battle of Britain, the best they could hope for was stalemate. Victory for England seemed too far away to imagine.

This all happened before we in America lifted a finger. In fact, at the time the majority of our government took steps to ensure that we did nothing to help at all. This all ended when The Allies of Germany, The Imperial Japanese, every bit as racist and imperialist as the Nazis attacked our Navy base in Hawaii. For 4 years, Americans stopped their lives and gave all and on the shores of Normandy, we began to answer Hitler directly on the question of whether or not the sons of democracy could beat the sons of the German Reich. The question was answered once and for all in the snows of Bastone, where the Germans enjoying a decided advantage still found themselves unable to remove a determined American force. At that point, the war was effectively over.

However, even after V-E day, the questions still came. “Can Germans be made live peacefully” “Will we ever rid the world of Nazis” “Can we pacify Europe”? “Should we punish the German people?”

In his book, The Conquerors: Roosevelt, Truman and the Destruction of Hitler's Germany, Michael Beschloss made the following observation about President Truman as he rode through the conquered German capital during the Potsdam Conference in 1945.

The car pulled up at Hitler's chancellery, near his underground bunker. Truman refused to go in, saying that he wouldn't want any of "those unfortunate people" to think he was "gloating over them." But he muttered acidly to Byrnes that he wasn't sure the Germans had "learned anything" from the Nazis' miserable end.

Truman returned to his villa that evening deeply depressed. He wrote to his wife, Bess: "This is a hell of a place---ruined, dirty, smelly, forlorn people, bedraggled hangdog look about them. You never saw as completely ruined a city." Truman noted in his diary how the refugees reminded him of his family’s displacement and resentment at the hands of the hated “Yankees” at the end of the Civil War.


American kids from Brooklyn, Atlanta, the Ozarks, Boise, Detroit and Seattle had beaten the very best of the SS and the entire German Reich could throw at them and now the President, a failed businessman from the state of Missouri rode through their capital, yet he was humbled by what he saw, He did not act as a conqueror, he acted as a man, seeing only the humanity in the defeat of his enemy.

Its been said that there can be no peace without capitulation. While only 4 years before, the Germans were the masters of the world, now it was clear to everyone, including the German people that they had lost, and lost badly. The myth of the Aryan superman was no more. The question now was what would the sons of Democracy do to them in return?

At this point the story of the end of World War II would end the way a thousand other wars had ended. But something happened at the end of this tale, something no one would have guessed, and it was something wonderful that should give us all hope.

People in America could see that the people of Germany weren’t superman, and they weren’t animals either. They were people. They were as much victims of Hitler as anyone else was. Harry Truman found it hard to hate the Germans after seeing their people crawl through the streets of Berlin.

The world faced a choice at the end of the war. Punish the Germans for their crimes, or let them up easy, feed them, give them their dignity and let them into the family of man as equals.

Despite the advice from others, we chose instead to feed the Germans. We chose to invest in their country, creating industries that would directly compete with our own. We learned to say please and thank you to people we had only recently worked so hard to kill. The result of this simple idea was that the world saw a miracle happen. A country that still showed the scars of war in 1960 became an economic powerhouse, not because of their military, but because they didn’t have one. They didn’t need one.

They had friends; they had us.

And now, were going home. Not out of anger, not because we’ve been driven out by “German freedom fighters”, but because the war waged against Germany by the Soviet Union is over and our purpose there has been fulfilled. Our troops are needed elsewhere. We’ve kept our promise to the German people and they’ve renounced warfare as a method of policy.

There will be no reporter “know it all” touting our departure as a failure of the Truman Doctrine, because our departure shows that it worked. We bet on the German people to be able to overcome all that they had going against them, and the bet has paid off.

We are “pulling out” of Germany, but you won’t hear it described that way. The term “pulling out” is reserved for special uses in the mind of the press.

“Pullout” is a loaded word and the term “pulling out” is a loaded phrase. It’s used by the “intelligencia” to show the futility of warfare. . It’s meant to demean those in service to our country. It’s meant to confuse little minds with sexual innuendo. It’s meant to say that once again, the President is wrong, and here why. The same people who use the term “pullout” also say “ war is not the answer” and use the illusion of humiliating defeat to make their case.

As the world learned in Germany, when the question is genocide and enslavement, war is certainly the answer. War is a horrible nasty thing that should never be entered into lightly, but there are worse things. The people of Treblinka, Auschwitz, Lidiche know that warfare is just one way to die and that sometimes a little war is better than a big genocide.

There is now an effort underway by the left to turn victory into defeat. The people who once argued we only went to Iraq for the oil are already screaming that we are leaving, and by calling it a “pullout” it acts as a preemptive attempt to set the tone of the debate, to say that we’ve lost when in fact, we’ve won. The Iraqis have won. They still have their oil, and now they have their dignity.

The world bet that we wouldn’t expose our soldiers to fire to remove a dictator, and they were wrong. The world bet that we wouldn’t leave if we did invade and again, they were wrong. The world said that the Arabs couldn’t be trusted to vote and yes, they were still wrong. The world said that civil war would break out, once again, wrong. They said that the Shiites, the Sunni and the Kurds could never make a working government, and yes, once again, they were wrong.

Of course, being wrong every single time should be no reflection on the lefts intelligence, but it should cause us to evaluate their value in the debate.

Our bet was on the Iraqi people, and we were right. We bet that the Baathist Tikriti Clan wasn’t really made up of 10-foot tall supermen but snickering little losers who once they lost the support that fear and intimidation gives would either be killed or locked up by the people they once exploited. We bet that Iraqi people weren’t animals. We bet that they were just people, and that like people everywhere, no matter their faith, no matter their condition, that they would choose freedom to tyranny.

Leaving Iraq in 2006 is not a defeat, it’s a victory. Today, not a single town, or region of Iraq is owned and operated Al-queda. The strongest of their towns was Falluja, a town we overran in 7 days. Since Falluja, no insurgent has been silly enough to try the same thing elsewhere. Sure, they set of bombs at the side of the road and the occasional pot shot, but to no avail. We still go where we want when we want, how we want. More importantly, despite all that goes against them, the Iraqi people continue to join their police forces, join their Army, and help their government. They are turning over insurgents in such numbers that together with the Iraqi people, we have managed to apprehend 50,000 criminals, bandits, and terrorists and put them under guard.

This is all being done not is some far off academic vacuum, its being under the very nose of Islamo-fascist Iran, right next door.

Iraq and Afghanistan mark the very first wars in history where we find people streaming into the war zone, rather than out. There is no greater metric to how the “Arab street” measures our armed forces and their generosity than the fact that there are no refugee camps on the border of Iraq, filled with people waiting to return to their homes in “occupied Iraq”. They knew what was happening, and they didn’t leave when the war started, they stayed. They didn’t hide on Election Day; they stood in line and voted.

We didn’t go to Iraq to occupy, we went to liberate, and now having done so, its time to move our troops where they need to go. The illusion that car bombs being set off in the streets of Baghdad means that we’ve lost, belies the fact that for several decades Israel has been beset by bombs, yet they too go on insisting that they have a country. Why should the Iraqis not be made of the same stuff as Israelis? Or of Britons, who once underwent a campaign of terror bombing in their capital by the Irish Republican Army, and yet still insist on staying.

The miracle of World War II isn’t that Americans, who having survived the great depression went into battle with only 90 days of training and managed to beat the “Aryan superman” on his own home turf at a war they had trained for 10 years to fight. The miracle was that despite our losses in a war we didn’t start, that despite our natural desire for vengeance we still managed to set it aside because we recognized the common goodness of mankind. We fed our former enemies and helped rebuild their country. We bet on the Germans, and the bet paid off. It was a gamble, and it was by no means certain to win. Its over now and we can go home, as friends.

We are placing the same bet on the Iraqis. The Iraqis are people and they deserve the freedom that was taken from them by people who wished only to enslave them.

We owe them the same faith in humanity that we owed the Germans. Don’t deny the Iraqis their victory over enslavement by reducing their victory with the derisive term “pullout”.

The Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleeza Rice on PBS News Hour today.

I've always suspected that the President didnt really care one way or another if we had a UN Ambassador. Now it seems there is this sudden sense of urgency to fill a position the president holds with disdain. Dr. Rice, for those who havent been paying attention, has been racking up the frequent flyer miles for the past 4 months. I dont think any Secretary of State in history has traveled as much to as many places in such a short period of time.

What might the good doctor be cooking in her kitchen that requires an Ambassador to the UN to deliver a message in September?

It seems to me that things are about to start hopping again. I dont think the media will be covering "shark attacks" when school starts.

Someone put Oliver Stone and Jimmy Carter on suicide watch. It Looks like Dr. Rice is setting the start of "Duck Season" for September.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has announced the creation of a new post to help "accelerate the demise" of the Castro regime in Cuba.

Excerpt:

Caleb McCarry, a veteran Republican Party activist, was appointed as the Cuba transition co-ordinator. Ms Rice said for 50 years Fidel Castro had condemned Cubans to a "tragic fate of repression and poverty".

Mr Castro accuses the US of funding unrest and vowed that dissidents would never bring down his government. The post was recommended in a 2004 report on Cuba by a commission headed by Ms Rice's predecessor Colin Powell.

The report outlines the steps the US is prepared to take to bring about regime change in Cuba, such as subverting Mr Castro's plans to hand over power to his younger brother.

Introducing Mr McCarry at the State Department in Washington, Ms Rice said the US was working with advocates of democratic change on the island. "We are working to deny resources to the Castro regime to break its blockade on information and to broadcast the truth about its deplorable treatment of the Cuban people," she said.

She said the aim of the effort was to "accelerate the demise of Castro's tyranny" on the Caribbean island, which he has ruled since 1959. Earlier this week, in a speech marking the anniversary of the Cuban revolution, Mr Castro accused the US of financing dissidents and false propaganda.

"No other revolutionary process has been able to count on as much consensus and overwhelming support as the Cuban revolution has," he told supporters in Havana...."

Castros Prison Island has been hit hard by this seasons Hurricaines, and the word from those with an ear to the ground is that the locals are getting restless.

I have a very large bottle of a fermented adult beverage sitting on ice waiting for the day this bloodsucker ends his reign of death over the people of Cuba. I have a feeling, just a slight hint of a feeling that the day I get to open that bottle is not that far off.

I've lived to see the end of the Soviet Union, Ive lived to see the Berlin wall fall, East Germany dissolved and women voting in Afghanistan, but what I really want to live long enough to see the Cuban people living free.

Japan Issues Android Girl: Release 2.0

Japanese scientists have unveiled the most human-looking robot yet devised - a "female" android called Repliee Q1.

All I can say is its a big improvement of Andriod Girl Version 1.0, This model served many 1960's suburban households as an early version of an organic bug zapper. Sounds that eminated from the mouth of the early prototype "yoko" unit have been known to be so powerful and overwhelming as to be able to stun small animals into a coma at 40 yards.

Sorry Senator, I couldnt quite hear you through the bile

If theres one thing I love its a good example of a bigot in the process of a whisper campaign designed to destroy a competitor.

Here's a great example from this months Atlantic Monthly, where the author interviews various parties on the subject of Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, wherein several "interesting facts" about the man are uncovered.

Excerpt:

...I was winding down our conversation when Senator Kennedy interrupted me. "The one question you didn't ask," he said, "was about Mormonism—whether it would hurt him in a national campaign."

"I was about to," I said.

"The answer is no," Kennedy said. "We've moved on. That died with my brother Jack."

Wow! You know, until this article appeared I had no idea that Teddy was related to the late President John F. Kennedy.

Then And Now

Attorney Mohamed Alameer Atta, The father of murdering butcher Mohammed Atta said this on September 26th 2001:

"... his son hated suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and would have never have joined his organization, al Qaeda.

The elder Atta said his son was framed. He said he talked to his son after the attacks and believes he was later killed by Israeli intelligence forces."

Today, The man who raised a child who went on to kill 3500 people including 40 muslims, all in direct violation of every law of decency and honor within Christianity and the Islamic world said this:

"... he would like to see more attacks like the July 7 bombings of three London subway trains and a bus that killed 52 people, plus the four bombers.

...El-Amir said the attacks in the United States and the July 7 attacks in London were the beginning of what would be a 50-year religious war, in which there would be many more fighters like his son. He declared that terror cells around the world were a "nuclear bomb that has now been activated and is ticking. The man, who gave his age as "at least 70," said he had no sorrow for what happened in London, and said there was a double standard in the way the world viewed the victims in London and victims in the Islamic world."

...Cursing in Arabic, el-Amir also denounced Arab leaders and Muslims who condemned the London attacks as being traitors and non-Muslims.

"...He passionately vowed that he would do anything within his power to encourage more attacks."

Apparently the murdering butchers father has had a change of heart towards his childs chosen career. If being a lawyer isnt shameful enough, raising a murdering butcher doesnt seem to bother him either. I guess no one told him we can actually go back and see what he said 4 whole years ago. I dont hate many people in the world, but I honestly do hate this man. I hope he roasts in hell on the fire his son has set for him.

In other news, Today Lebanon formed a free democratic government. This puts the score at three new secular democracies in the Muslim world and zero Christian countries overturned by the murdering Islamic butchers like Mr. Attas disgusting son.

Thats good news. Theres actually lots of good news. Lets look back at bit and see where we are on the "big campaign map" on the war on islamic fascism.

In 2005, Osama can’t go anywhere outside of his close protection of tribal Waziristan, he sleeps in a different bed every night, hunted by the infidel enemy in his own Islamic countryside. He lives in constant fear for his eventual betrayal by men of his own command. His ‘circle of trust’ grows smaller every day. The Taliban now hides in the shadows of the outskirts of afghan cities, while Hilton and Sheraton build new hotels in Kabul and Bagram. Pakistan returns our phone calls, offers help when they can, stays out of the way when they cant. Three million Afghanis left their refugee camps in Pakistan to return home in Afghanistan where free secular democratic elections in which women also vote have now occurred. Saddam is now in a cell awaiting trial and quick hanging, cleaning his own underwear in the sink just above his toilet. His two hell spawn children are dead and buried courtesy of the 101st Airborne and a relative who ratted them out for the reward. Non-believers now occupy Baghdad, the third greatest city in Islam. Libya is now a popular western tourist destination, while the famously anti western Libyan leader Quadaffi now offers to go to North Korea to help convince them to give up nuclear weapons as he has done. Syrian troops have retreated from Lebanon, returning the country to a secular western parliamentary democracy. After a long painful humiliating illness, Arafat is now dead. Palestine is about to be walled off from the rest of the civilized world, despite their protests and bombings of pizza parlors.

In 2001, they killed mostly infidels. In 2005, they kill mostly other Muslims.

In 2001, In Manhattan, DC and Pennsylvania by destroying aircraft and buildings with people in them they killed 3,500. In 2005, they killed 52 with explosives on a bus in London.

In 2001 the call for bloody Jihad was heard throughout the Islamic world. In 2005, the call for freedom and western democracy is heard throughout the Islamic world.

In 2001, Aceh Indonesia was a hotbed of Islamic fundamentalism where westerners were unwelcome. In 2005, Due to an act of God, Aceh no longer exists. Its surviving population is alive due to the charity of the western world who they once shunned as infidels while Muslim charity is nowhere to be seen; a fact not lost on the remaining population.

In 2001, they cheered Attas murdering butchers from in the streets of Gaza. In 2005, they created a fatwa against the murdering butchers of London.

It find its former allies, if not outright eliminated expressly unwilling to offer assistance lest they too call the wrath of the dreaded infidel in the form of direct political sanctions but also that of real violence against their host regimes. They fear not just the infidel west, but also those fellow travelers who would sell them over to the enemy for a bit of cash or favor from the west. Al-queda now faces as many enemies who are Muslim as it does enemies of the infidel west. Where al-queda once worked as an instrument of foreign policy for their host states, it now finds itself unable to perform that function or any other for their hosts. Today, if host states are found by agents of the west to be hosting al-queda resources, they now know that they are immediately handled with extreme prejudice.

With the exception of the cowardly government of Spain, Al-queda has had no effect on changing the policies of the west. Democracy, anathema to al-queda is now spreading like a wildfire on the prairie. Where once al-queda found a culture that looked on their ideas as virtuous, they are increasingly seen only as the killers of Muslim children.

We are clearly winning this war. However the western press and its desire to paint history in its own dark twisted vision of self loathing and disaster will simply not allow any good news to be painted as such, lest the "evil George W. Bush" get credit for changing the world for the better.

The world is better than it was in 2001. We are winning and Al-queda and the forces of Jihad are losing in every theatre of the war. They are not winning ‘hearts and minds’ even in the areas of the world that are most predisposed to follow them. With the exception of their ability to set off small explosives and kill their own soldiers on the process, the west is completely out of their touch. They havent changed our minds on palestine, islam, saudi arabia or Jihad but they have focused our concentration about wiping them out. Weve driven them from their sanctuaries, weve changed their culture, weve taken their women from them. We've freed their slaves.

Every day that we continue to live in liberty and freedom is a victory against their dark forces. Yet, with all that is fighting against us, Liberty is spreading, freedom is expanding and Jihad is on the run.

That’s good news, for everyone, no matter who they are and no matter who is President.

What I learned from Plame-gate

This is essentially all that has ever been said about the whole Plame-gate affair (From CBC):

A new report in the U.S. media is once again linking Karl Rove to the unmasking of an undercover CIA agent. Rove, 'Bush's brain' as he is often called, is legendary for his ability to get his boss elected and his political enemies destroyed.

Now Democrats are hoping to turn the tables with some new ammunition in this week's Time magazine. Journalist Matt Cooper reports it was Rove who told him him that Joe Wilson, a prominent critic of the Bush administration, was married to a CIA agent later identified as Valerie Plame. "After that conversation [with Rove] I knew she worked at the CIA and worked on WMD [weapons of mass destruction]," said Cooper. It is one more twist in a tangled story that began when Saddam Hussein was accused by President George W. Bush of trying to buy nuclear materials in Africa. The charge was used to justify invading Iraq but it was later discredited by Wilson, a former U.S. ambassador and who in 1990 was U.S. charge d'affaires in Baghdad, who investigated the claim and wrote an article in the New York Times saying it was false. It was shortly afterwards that article was published in July 2003 that Wilson's wife's identity was leaked to several Washington reporters: an effort some claim to punish him. Disclosing the identity of a covert CIA agent is federal crime in the U.S and the case is now being investigated by a grand jury. "Using the West Wing of the White House to be engaged in a smear campaign is an outrageous abuse of power," said Wilson. What is most damaging for Bush is that two years ago, the White House denied allegations that Rove was involved.

Rove's only public statement on the issue was last year when he said "I didn't know her name or leak her [Valerie Plame's] name." On Monday, Bush was noncommittal about Rove's involvement. "I would like this to end as quickly as possible so we know the facts," said Bush. "And if someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration." The Democrats though are already mounting protest demonstrations saying it's time for Rove to go. "I believe very clearly that Karl Rove ought to be fired," said Massachusetts Senator John Kerry. Political analyst Stuart Rothenberg says there could be a backlash for the Democrats. "Certainly this is of political benefit to the Democrats, or at least potentially of benefit over the long term. But there is an element of 'Gotcha' in all this, of sticking it to a political strategist who has stuck it to them over the past number of years." Because Rove didn't actually name the CIA agent it's not likely that he will be charged with any crime. But it is clear that the White House misled the public about Rove's involvement for the past two years years and that could raise new doubts about both the administration's credibility and its judgment.

And Today’s Secret Word Is...

Doxycycline!

It’s my way of saying, the cough that would never leave has never left and we’ve now kicked it up a notch. No I, don’t have pneumonia, SARS, tuberculosis, asthma, black lung disease or West Nile, but I’ve been tested for all of them. Except for the fact that I can’t breathe without exhaling some form of liquid, I’m in very good health. This is Week 4 of non stop coughing, If I go to week 5 watching large chunks of watery seaweed like material coming out of mouth, its all over.

So, how’s Doxycycline? Oh it’s not so bad. But it did take me a half hour to write this and my legs feel like they are made of silly putty. Blogging will have to wait a couple of days.

Aziz Nesin - Turkisk publisher and writer, who had printed extracts of The Satanic Verses in a Turkish newspaper, was attacked by a crazed religious mob in 1993. They cornered him in a hotel and set it on fire, killing 37 people, but Nesin, an elderly man in his late 70s, escaped.

Question of the Day: Part II - Whodunit?

I have a rule about not paying too close attention to information that comes out of the first 24 hours of a Terror Event, because its almost always wrong. For example, in the first 24 hours after Oklahoma City, We were told to look out for 'swarthy middle easteners'. several men were dragged off airlines if a I remember correctly. After Madrid, it was "The ETA".

Both turned out to be wrong. Dead Wrong.

So today I started to go over the information from the London Attacks to see what we know, and a thought jumped right out of the data and bit me square on the behind.

The Left makes a mantra of the idea that "Iraq didnt attack us on 9/11, We had no right to attack them".

So, what if it is actually Iran thats behind the London Bombings and not al-queda as we all assume?

Could Iran have done this? Oh, certainly they could. Does anyone not think that Hezbollah is not a Terror organization and that its not an Agent of Iran? No one is so far to the left that they could not argue that to be the case. There are people so far to the left that they would argue that Hezbollah is justified, but they cant argue that it isnt possible.

The London Attack has a few features that I find intriguing. First the number and size of the weapons and the explosive used appears to to be different than the Madrid Attacks, which tells me in my uneducated mind that its a different organization at work, with either a different source of explosives or a different 'master bomb maker'or both. I'm actually leaning to the idea that its local talent, not al-queda, at least not the al-queda weve grown to know over the years.

I think that al-queda is gone, and more about that later.

So its someone else. But what happens if it is found that Iran sponsored or supported this attack? If the left is to be consistent and says the US was justified in attacking Afghanistan after 9/11, would they also say that Great Britain would be justified in attacking Iran in response? And lets also say this, The US invoked the NATO charter for 9/11 and as NATO support in Afghanistan, as "an attack on one is an attack on all". That means if Great Britian were able to show with any credible evidence that it was Iran, that France and Germany are now on the hook for supporting a possible British invasion of Iran.

This puts a whole new spin on things, doesnt it?

Good thing we have an entire Army, Navy and Air Force ready to assist our strongest ally in that venture.

Question of the Day: Is London Really Bush's Fault?

It seems the Worlds Leftists and the media are now working overtime to find a way to blame the London bombing on President Bush and the Iraq war. Its as if the whole terror war suddenly showed up on Thursday.

So…

If “Bush and his Illegal War” are to really to blame for the current state of Terrorism which is clear because of course we know that prior to Bush and proir to Iraq, the world was at peace with itself, then who are we to blame for the other acts of terror that happened before Thursday? To be fair, let’s go back one Administration and lay out the whole case.

Future Press Conference: Oliver Stone’s“9/11”

Whats this? Hollywood is going to make a 9/11 Movie! Well, Its about time!

Oh,no. The Director is OLIVER STONE!


Well, I cant wait to see how this comes out. Well, I dont have to, I had Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman hop into the "Wayback machine" and pick up any sort of materials he could so I find about how the movie looks when it comes out. Mr. Peabody managed to return this transcript from the Cannes Film Festival where Mr. Stone released his film.

TRANSCRIPT

Times Reporter: Sir, Your film depicts the wall street buildings on 9/11 as festooned with both Nazi swastikas and the ‘star of David’, what were you trying to say with that particular piece of playful visual imagery?

Oliver Stone: Well remember this is Hollywood, I’m not responsible for history, we are just telling a story here. I just wanted to set the tone for how I wanted the audience to see as the clear enemy, the fascists on wall street the control all of our lives, the ones the killed JFK and sent me and my generation to Vietnam.

Times Reporter: The scene where large white bulldozers with the name “Halliburton” painted on their sides mow down Mohammed Attas village and begin placing oil derricks that are painted with star of davids directly through the bodies of Palestinian women and children?

Oliver Stone: Again, This is just storytelling, but I have to say I think that particular scene works very well. You know the one part of the whole September 11th story that hasn’t been told is how the people in Mohammad Attas family have suffered. Think of how his character has been maligned by this government. Think of how Mohammad Attas father feels knowing that a Mossad agent has appropriated his sons name so as to discredit the Muslims. Its just despicable the things this government has done to the people of Egypt.

Post Intelligencer Reporter: Oliver, I was particularly moved by your scene in the Oval office on September 10th, I think it captured exactly what many of us who voted for Kerry and for Dean were thinking during the last 8 years of occupation of our country by the Bush Regime. Would you take the audience into how you constructed that particular masterpiece of filmmaking?


Oliver Stone: Well I’d really prefer that you see the movie, (Audience Laughs) but the basic make up of the scene is when the Bush family owned Carlyle group, the buildiburgers, the illuminati, Saudi royal family and aliens from Area 51 meet in the Oval Office with their bought and paid for government puppet, George W. Bush for the purposes of laying out the actions of their agents the next day. I chose to shoot the scene from the perspective of a ‘floating specter’, concentrating not on what they were saying on that fateful day, but on what they were doodling on their notepads, trying to get the general ambiance of the room and the characters in it who are playing with our lives like the way that cats play with a mouse just before it pounces in for the kill. At one point the camera hesitates above Dick Cheney’s notepad, which shows him doodling swastikas and cartoons of airplanes shooting into women and children, a big doodle in the middle of him pulling the strings on a wooden Pinocchio with the letters GWB above it, while the gepetto character is saying “Dance you bitch”!


The camera then moves to Ashcroft’s notepad, and he is doodling pictures of the topless statue of liberty, with really big cartoon boobs with a word bubble above her head that says “ oh john!”.

Then we move on to the Saudi Prince, who is doodling big dollars signs all over the page, but if you are paying attention, the notepad also says “ call Osama at his pad in Miami”. The scene ends with the group standing and facing the Presidents Desk, when the fake paneling behind the Presidents desk opens to reveal the preserved head of Richard Nixon floating in a jar. Nixon’s Head is attached to electrodes, and those are attached to computers that allow him to give orders to his minions in the room with all sorts of lights flashing and holographic displays. As he finishes rallying the troops with a speech we cant quite hear as it were, they all snap to a perfect “Sieg Heil” salute to their true leader, Richard Nixon, the man who by the way, personally created the orders that sent me and my generation to Vietnam.

Sun Reporter: Sir, How did you manage to get Kevin Costner to play to role of Moahmmed Atta in the film?


Oliver Stone: I just had to call him up and say “ dude, listen I got the perfect role for you, it’s the story of a rebel who is out to set things right in the fight against the ultimate wrong. He’s a family man who is a combination of Tom Joad, Elliot Ness, Wyatt Earp. This guys begging to have his story told by you. This guy deserves to have you tell his story. I’m telling you this is the role that put you back on top. I didn’t tell him what the project was or who the character was, he just signed up right away and said it sounded like “a sure win”.

Luckily I had him under contract before he read the script.

Sun Reporter: And Woody Harrelson as George W. Bush?
(Auidence Laughs)

Oliver Stone: Well, that was inspired wasn’t it? Woody did that for scale. By the way, It was his idea to wear the vampire teeth, he just went and did it. It works great. I never would have thought of that. Its like Brando packing his cheecks with cotton for "The Godfather".

Time Reporter: Can you tell us what the opening montage was made of?

Oliver Stone: Well it’s all done silently, and we used as much from documentary films as we could. We start with a scene of 'America as Eden', with Native Americans frolicking to and fro in their perfect society. Then we start with Columbus landing on the shore, then we show the Indians dying of syphilis and being enslaved and taken back to their new masters in England, then we move on to the persecution of witches in Salem, then we move on to the death of plains Indians, then we show Henry Ford as he enslaves the workers into his factories in Detroit, then we show America baiting the Japanese into a war, then putting them into concentration camps, then the wanton destruction of Germans in Europe, then we show soldiers from my platoon torching village in order to save them, the united fruit company killing people in El Salvador to use them as fertilizer for bananas. Its all done in quick cinema verite style cuts with a great song by Leonard Cohen called “ I’d kill myself if I could, but I don’t have the ambition”. I think its could be the new National Anthem. I love Leonard Cohen; I can’t understand why he’s underappreciated by American audiences.

I think its sets the tone for the film perfectly while the credits are going. It’s a great way to get the audience into the mood of the film.

Backlash

A quick observation. Every time our enemy attacks us or a terror cell is uncovered in our midsts, there is a knee jerk response by the media. The media wants to turn what-ever-the-hell-it-is into a story of Muslim victimhood.

The headline put forward always looks strikingly similar to this:

So I did a quick Google search and I found a few of the following for today:

Well ok, that seems both regrettable yet understandable conclusion to draw considering the events of the week. But then it seemed like everyone, everywhere was getting in on the same action.

Ah, yes!, I remember when my friends and I put on our fresh white sheets and pointy hats, mounted our horses and rode off into the night to terrorize the muslims to seek revenge for 9/11! Bwhahahahahah!

American Muslims condemn London attacks, ready for backlash
So, we can just dispense with the handwringing guilt and start with the lynching then shall we? ok then, the line forms to the left...

Earlier this summer we had another story about a set of arrests of a possible terror cell in Lodi California. So what was the headline? thats right - Backlash!.

So it seems that the effect of an Al-queda attack is not to stir fear into the Western population, but it does seem to scare the hell out of the Muslim population. Every time Al-queda decides to act, its Muslims that get the lash from the evil infidels.

At least thats how the story is supposed to go according to the media script.

Only.....They dont. Dont get me wrong, I'm not arguing that they should, I'm not that kind of guy and thats not what I'm trying to argue for at all. What I am trying to say is that the Muslim populations fear the "Backlash" from infidels, but it never comes. The Media begs and pleads for it to come, but yet it doesnt. In Sacramento, we watched for a week straight every night as the media tried to show that little Lodi was a hotbed of cracker redneck racism that was certain to ride out into the night and commit horrendous crimes against the Pakistani population the minute the cameras were turned off.

You cant imagine how sad they were that the people of Lodi could not follow the script and be good rednecks. Sure, people do stupid things; throw eggs, say terrible mean and hurtful things, and on occasion, they do threaten lives and even kill people because people are Muslims, but that is by far the exception to the rule. The rule, if there is one, is that Muslims live in better conditions in the US and the West than in any Muslim country. The other sad fact is that to compare those crimes that do happen in the West against Muslims to those that are state policy in Muslim countries is a travesty and a downright shame. It is like comparing open racial genocide to an incident of graffiti.

The sad fact is that a Muslim incarcerated at Guantanamo has more human and civil rights than the average Muslim in any Muslim country! The lowest Muslim in America has more rights than the average Muslim in Saudi Arabia, The Kingdom of Mecca. Yet, we are told by the media that all the Muslims fear is a backlash from the 'good for nothing infidels'; not from their own people who really are killing them and enslaving them, but instead from the people of the West who are sheltering them and allowing them to thrive.

In each and every one of the countries from which those "backlash" headlines are generated, Muslims live with more rights, more protection, more wealth, prosperty and life expectancy living among those "dirt rotten infidels" and yes, "the jews" than they do in their own Muslim community.

Yet, the story is only of a "backlash against Muslims".

I'm one of those of the opinion that the Western Media is an operating arm of Al-queda. Oh, Im sorry, Did I go to far? Well, if the goal of terrorists is to terrorize, the only way to do that is to have access to media and the ability to set the agenda presented. The primary purpose of terror attacks is to draw attention, to extort, not to destroy the means of production or the population. Most, if not all terror attacks are laughibly bad from meeting military goals, they are political in nature, aimed at the voting populace not the factories and assets of a given state.

There are many in Western Media who openly sympathize with the stated goals of the 'muderous bastards' and hope every day that al-queda will win. They believe in the superiority of the rebels cause, no matter how murderours the rebel. I know its rough to condemn an entire industry and I dont like to say it, but I think its more true than not. I think the "backlash" template is proof of it and its only one template in their portfolio.

"Backlash" is a prefabricated story that the media tries looks for evidence to fit in daily happenings to support their already stated conclusions.

The story template is this:

The west is racist.
They hate people. Especially those who are not Christians.
They are exploiting you.
And heres your proof ( fill in the blank with stories of personal affront).
See, we told you so.

But heres the real story. Muslims, lead by people like Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and so on are killing Muslims by the truckload. Killing, abusing, enslaving, stealing property, disfiguring their women, putting their men into conscription.

You need examples for the alternate template? Ok, but you should know I dont feel any 'coming backlash' for doing this.

Muslim leaders needlessly waste thousands of lives in reckless Human Wave attacks.


So, If the Media wants to get on my good side they can start by creating a new template for running stories of headlines that goes something like this:

Al-queda bombing kills xx number of muslims civilians during attack on western cities.
In every Al-queda attack, Mulsims are killed. Take the time to point that out, rather than the one or two westerners.

Al-queda fears Muslim Communities retribution.
There is nothing Al-queda fears more than a rat in their midsts. They are not supermen, They have weaknesses, Say so. Make them sweat.

Muslims everywhere suffer at hands of al-queda operatives.
Obvious. but it needs to be said.

Al-queda breaks with religious ruling by attacking women and children.
Again, Obvious.

Support falling for al-queda in fill-in-the-blank Muslim community.
I think you can make a case for that in every article referenced above as a weeping story of evil western backlash. If you read the same article with my eyes, you can clearly see that most of these people dont like al-queda.

Al-queda sympathizers turned over to police by Muslim community.
This happens every day. If I have one issue with the Bush administration its when their need for secrecy overrides their need to tell the right story.

It isnt the West that threatens Islam or Muslims. Al-queda is the biggest threat to Islam since the crusades. It is time the media started to get off the "Backlash" template and on to the alternate. Its demeaning to Muslims and the sacrifices they have made for living in freedom to then go on to say that they only fear it.

Notice

I'm still under the weather, but I've discovered something interesting in the attack on London that is worth posting. Unfortunately, it involves data, and data means graphics and I stink at graphics. Im also at work, so I cant work on it till later this evening.

One other problem I have is I find the subject more than a bit ghoulish to discuss the raw statistics terror attacks of when there are people dead, dying and still greiveing from an attack. So I went and checked with my 'council of elders', and they all concur that its probably ok to talk about.

So stay tuned.

Oh, and my co-worker buddies in London all report back in good shape. In fact when I asked them what they were going to do yesterday they said " what we normally do, we're going to the pub!"

Thats my boys. Not Shaken, Not Stirred.

And as my scottish co-worker just added " Not Spanish".

What is it about London and the need for those of who hate liberty to try to destroy it? What makes al-queda think they can subdue with weapons the very people who withstood Hitler for nearly two years prior to Pearl Harbor? Hitler and al-queda both felt the path to victory was the terror spread by killing women and children. Hitler was wrong, and so is al-queda.

The fools, they think they have won; that they have a great victory against the English and the Western world.

But all they have done is sign their death warrants.

10 Economics Lessons For Socialists and Musicians

Boys, I appreciate your passion on the subject and I think your hearts in the right place about wanting to "Stop Poverty in Africa", but we need to go over a few basic economic things here before you do more damage, so here goes...

1. Someone with money is not the reason that someone else doesnt have any.

2. You can't get rid of poverty by making wealth illegal.

3. Any economic system based on the redistribution of wealth will only result in greater poverty, less civil and human rights until eventually there are no rights or wealth left for the government to redistribute. Markets can and do redistribute wealth in a way that is the most just and most fair based on the expressed needs, wants and desires set forth in the marketplace by its participants. One fundamental purpose of government is to oversee the function of the market to ensure its fairness and equity to the participants.


4. Rich people dont steal money from poor people, because by definition poor people dont have any wealth to steal. Poor people are exploited by rich people when they are allowed by the government an unequitable exchange for labor. Strikes are an answer to that problem, but only so long as they are protected by the government. However, government must act to protect the rights of both the business and the labor markets, not one or the other, but both.

5. People dont get paid by how hard they work, they get paid by how hard they are to replace. If theres a 100 people who do what you do and theres only 90 positions, someone isnt going to get a seat when the music stops and the ones seated will get less than they want as long as there are 10 people sitting idle who can take their place. However, if you are the only one who can do something and its in demand, you get to name your price.

6. Poor people are created by a system of government that does not respect and develop property rights for its citizens. To put it more simply;"If you cant own property - you are property". Countries where the citizenry are encouraged to own property and have their property rights protected are almost always by definition, rich. Countries where property rights are somewhat questionable are almost always poor.

7. There is nothing noble in being poor. There is nothing virtuous in being rich. Dont confuse the basic value of all human life with the temporary economic circumstances and marketability of any individual. Fortunes rise and fall, but people are always the same.

8. The quickest way to make someone poor is to give them money. The quickest way to make them rich is teach them a skill thats in demand. Education is the best way to end poverty.

9. In the modern world, Famines are not the result of natural weather conditions or poor agriculture methods but the actions of socialist governments interfering with markets for the purpose of controlling their populations. When you see those horrible pictures of children starving, its important that you realize its a form of economic genocide that is occuring, not bad farming practices. Someone is killing those people, they didnt just die because they couldnt plow their fields.

10. Boys, I know this is gonna hurt when you hear it, but you need to hear it. All that money you raised for "The Poor of Africa"? Not one dime of it wll ever get to the hands of those who are actually poor. It will all, every single dime, drachma, euro, pound, sheckel will end up in the hands of some warlord dictator or thug. The unfortunate fact is this Gentleman; that your act of kindness has probably done more to ensure that poverty continues in Africa for another generation. So long as there are well meaning Western liberal leftists like yourself willing to throw money at the "poor of Africa", there will be a thug in Africa ensuring that there are poor in Africa for you to rescue. Thanks to you and your "help" there is no incentive to end that trade.

Here's a few books to check out next time you guys want to help. Maybe you should just hire a plane to airdrop these into Africa the next time you want to "help the poor".

Notice

After three weeks of near constant coughing, day and night, every three to five minutes, and yeah these are the "wet and nasty" coughs that make you run the other way when someone like me is in line at Mcdonalds with you; I went to a new level of awful today when I managed to cough up some blood.

Well now!, that gets your attention pretty quick now doesnt it! It's Gods way of saying, "hey smartass - you are really sick ok!, so quit screwing around and go see the doctor fer cryin' out loud!!".

So I broke with the male chromosonal tradition of letting things solve themselves and went and saw the doctor.

The Good News: After poking, prodding, x-rays,flex cams, and sputum samples I can say with authority that what I dont have is - Lung Cancer, TB, Asthma, "Kennel cough" or Pneumonia. I was leaning heavily towards the "Kennel cough" diagnosis. With the exception of the fact that my throat looks like I just tried to polish it with steel wool, I'm in remarkably good shape.

The Bad News: I have a very severe case of bronichitis which has lead to a small infection on my right lung, which if left alone could get worse. So over the next few days I will be visiting the parlor of Miss Codeine and Miss Supplemental Oxygen for afternoon tea.

Im not really good at being sick. I'm even less good at blogging under the influence, so I'll be back in a few days.

Baiting Sen. Schumer

Senator Schumer has said that “this is war” and I take him at his word. But the war isn’t against the President or the opposition. The war is against us. Let’s stop all the fol-der-all over who the candidate might be, there are no candidates that Senator Schumer and the Democrats will find acceptable, except those whom they nominate. And that is the crux of the problem. According to the Constitution, the minority party in the Senate has no power in this matter. The Executive branch has the power to nominate, and the Senate has the duty to ‘advise and consent’. The rules of the Senate drive the process of confirmation.

To illustrate my case, I have gone through the effort of putting five candidates before the Senate Judicial Committee. My point is this; that these candidates are real people, with real backgrounds and almost all of them are in fact, Democrats and have received judicial appointment by Democrats in the past.

However, none of this will matter, as this exercise has nothing to do with the operation of Government or the qualification of a given candidate. This exercise is about political power. The power of a small minority with no accountability, to stop the government from functioning.

Here are five candidates. I guarantee of these people were put in front of Sen. Schumer, they would all be rejected for nothing but ideological tests. Tests for which no man or woman could pass without giving into political pressure and outright intellectual bribery. This is what has happened to our government as a result of the acts of the Democrats, the Judiciary is no longer an independent branch; it is now a subsystem to the Legislature.

Tomorrow I will reveal the names and further details of these people so as to illustrate just how far down the hole we have already gone towards tyranny.

Candidate #1:

Candidate #1 is the first member of his/her religion to receive a nomination to the Court. His/Her nomination is considered quite controversial, not just because this persons politics is considered out of step with the mainstream but with this person’s religion being the butt of many jokes and for many in our culture members of this religion are considered second class citizens not suited for public office. While this person does not proselytize the religion in their public life, it should be noted that the tenets of this religion do not allow for homosexual marriage or abortion. During the nomination process a five-man subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony concerning this persons "fitness" to the office of Associate Justice. A former President has signed a letter along with six former presidents of the American Bar Association urging rejection of this person’s nomination on grounds that they were unfit. The president of Harvard University joined a letter adopted by other leaders of the community urging rejection of the nomination.

Candidate #2:

Candidate #2 is an immigrant to the United States from war torn Eastern Europe. Although this person has written many scholarly works while at Harvard University, this person is best know by their articles published in “The New Republic” magazine founded by like-minded progressives. This candidate is controversial to members of the Senate Judicial Committee because of this candidate has spoken freely of the need for “Judicial Restraint”. In one controversial case this person concluded that a public school was permitted to expel a student who refused, for religious reasons, to salute the American flag. This persons positions on controversial issues has caused other members of the bar and of the judiciary to leave the room when this person is speaking, due to their manner of speaking and the opinions that they hold.

Candidate #3:

Candidate #3 is from the south and it has been long rumored to have the support of organizations of the extreme right wing. This person’s career as a successful trial lawyer, handling personal injury, criminal and other cases has had a good if not sensational reputation. Candidate #3 was elected prosecutor of their home County, and remained in office for three years, when due to the recent national emergency Candidate #3 voluntarily enlisted in the Army, was commissioned a captain.

Candidate #4 is a former POW and a US Senator.

Candidate #5 has practiced law, but the Bar association in his state does not require that he have a Law degree. Candidate #5 was called upon by the President to oversee the establishment of United Nations legal operations dealing with overseas prosecution of organizations and people that the United States considered to be “War Criminals”. His tenure was considered controversial due to the extra-legal aspects of this prosecution, a point that was brought up many times during the defense of the alleged war criminals. While Candidate #5 was performing his duties for the President, the US Government was engaged in a controversial incarceration of thousands of former combatants of the recently deposed regime.

Admiral James Stockdale 1923- 2005

Admiral Stockdale on his return from North Vietnamese captivity. Just look at that little boy in the crook of his arm and imagine what he's feeling...

Admiral James Stockdale died today after a long bout with Alzheimers disease. Admiral Stockdale was many things in his life, but his most inspirational moment was the leadership he provided his men during his time as a Captive of the Vietnamese. I hesitate to say "Prisoner of War" as by any measure of treatment, the Vietnamese simply did not keep prisoners.

Here as an excerpt from the Academy of Achievement
"Stockdale wound up in Hoa Lo Prison - the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" -- where he spent the next seven years under unimaginably brutal conditions. He was physically tortured no fewer than 15 times. Techniques included beatings, whippings, and near-asphyxiation with ropes. Mental torture was incessant. He was kept in solitary confinement, in total darkness, for 4 years, chained in heavy, abrasive leg irons for 2 years, malnourished due to starvation diet and denied medical care, and deprived of letters from home in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Through it all, Stockdale's captors held out the promise of better treatment if he would only admit that the United States was engaging in criminal behavior against the Vietnamese people, but Stockdale refused. Drawing strength from principles of stoic philosophy, Stockdale heroically resisted. His courage was an inspiration to his fellow POWs, with whom he communicated in an ingenious code, maintiang unit cohesion and morale. His jailers increased the level of torture, so Stockdale determined to fight back in the only way he could.

Told that he was to be taken "downtown" and paraded in front of foreign journalists, Stockdale slashed his scalp with a razor and beat himself in the face with a wooden stool. He reasoned that his captors would not dare display a prisoner who appeared to have been beaten. When he learned that his fellow prisoners prisoners were dying under torture, he slashed his wrists to show their captors that he preferred death to submission. Stockdale literally gambled with his life, and won.

Convinced of Stockdale's determination to die rather than cooperate, the Communists ceased trying to extract bogus "confessions" from him. The torture of American prisoners ended, and treatment of all American POWs improved. Upon his release in 1973, Stockdale's extraordinary heroism became widely known, and he received the Congressional Medal of Honor in the nation's bicentennial year. He is one of the most highly decorated officers in the history of the Navy, wearing 26 personal combat decorations, including four Silver Star medals in addition to the Medal of Honor.

Throughout Stockdale's captivity, his wife Sybil campaigned for respectful treatment for the families of all POWs by founding the League of Families. Sybil Stockdale was presented with the U.S. Navy Department's Distinguished Public Service Award by the Chief of Naval Operations. She is the only wife of an active-duty officer ever to be so honored.

The Admiral was treated badly in life, first by his captors and later by our country. Later in his life, he became the Vice Presidential Candidate for the 1992 Perot Campaign. As a result of not being too telegenic and more than a bit passed his prime in public speaking, he was made into a laughing stock by Saturday Night Live and popular culture.

The sight of it made me sick to my stomach. First, at Perot for picking the man in the first place and second, knowing that the greatest sin in our culture is simply not looking good on TV and what that would eventually mean to him and his reputation.

I was raised as a 'Navy Brat', and there were Navy men that my Father and Grandfather talked about only in reverential whispers. Zumwalt, Bucher, Denton, Stockdale, Mccain had the same weight to my fathers generation that Nimitz, and Halsey had to my grandfathers. The 1970's was a hard time to be in the military culture. Its easy to join when its popular, its hell when its not. But its not popularity in the end is it, its about duty.

We all have a lot to learn from the life of Admiral Stockdale. He never quit, he never lost faith. He won, and so will we.

As of today, out of respect to the Admiral and his widow, I hereby request that any and all discussions of "Gulag" and "Torture" and "The Horrors of Abu-Ghiraib" cease immediately.

Anyone discussing the subject and trying to compare it to Jim Stockdale will be met with my full fury as I read back to them the experiences of Jim Stockdale at the hands of the Communists. I will blog no more on the subject of "torture" as I find it sick, sick, to make politics in light of a man's sacrifice to his country. I promise to mock without mercy the first blogger who in any way compares the experience of Admiral Stockdale to those al-queda bastards in Guantanamo.

No.
They might have been trying to show that but thats not what I got out of it.

What I got out of it was far more simple than that.

They were all Americans.

What more, except a quiet, humbled respectful 'thank you' is there to be said about the deaths of our countrymen?

I will let the words of Mr. Abraham Lincoln in his time, speak for us in ours:

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

This was delivered by President Lincoln in November 1863, at the burial site of over 30,000 American deaths at the battlefield of Gettysburg Pennsylvania.

I will only add to the thoughts of President Lincolm that the lives lost by the men and women reflected on this map, volunteers all, have helped change a world where this was the normal fate of Muslim women and children:

Nostalgia Is A Mental Disease

Yeah. I used to read Doonesbury. Of course I used to wear a puka shell necklace and bell bottoms with sandals made out of tire tread too, but I got over it. Sometime about 1979 if I remember correctly.

As someone born at the tail end of the "Me" generation, there is nothing funnier to me than watching the baby boomer generation as it slides into its oblivion. A whole generation dedicated to "me" is reaching its end; finding nothing but its fat corpulent corrupt self satisfaction for all their works. No monuments, no temples, no universities, no ideas. Just obsolete record collections and posters of concerts and glory days gone by. The sad thing about the "me" generation; when your life is about nothing but self satisfaction it doesn’t leave a whole lot behind to be remembered for by the next generation.

Your generation sure has come a long way, Gary. And from the deepest part of my 'Generation Next' heart, I wish you'd all just keep moving right along. Your generation lived in the soft pocket that the generation before provided for your generation, and yet you hated them for it. The parents of your generation, the generation that survived the triplet horrors of the Great Depression, the struggle against fascism and finally the Soviets was your definition of evil, not the horrible things they fought against. They left behind a world that you could live in that was beyond anything they could have imagined. Freedom from fear, freedom from want, freedom of expression, and inside of a single generation you went and wrapped the whole thing around a telephone pole like a drunken teenager behind the wheel of a Maserati. It must’ve been hard for them to find the will fight starvation, Hitler and Stalin, but it must’ve been absolute hell for them to withstand the pain of their hearts being crushed by their own kids.

Thank you, baby boomers! Thanks for the sexual revolution, thanks for Chlamydia, herpes, oh and a very special thank you very much for the spread of AIDS. Thanks for a generation of kids raised in divorce. Thanks for rampant adolescent drug use. Thanks for crack cocaine and black tar heroin. Thanks for making a culture that makes the staggering hell of drug addiction something "cool". I guess it was just too much of stretch to make cancer cool so you went for the easy kill with the glamorization of the drug trade instead. Thanks to the generation of hedonists who produced a president who educated my kids on the phrase "oral sex", or the special nuance of phrase "no controlling legal authority". Thanks for turning baseball and football from the leadership and inspiration of Vince Lombardi to the stepping-stone to federal prison it has become. In 30 years we’ve gone from a culture that found the phrase "give em hell harry' vulgar to a president so vulgar as to defile the office of the White House by his personal acts. A generation who found the only vulgarity in their President was his being held accountable by the citizenry for those acts.

I guess that didn’t work out quite like you planned either. Is there anything your generation worked on that did work out? Well, yeah, The Internet. Now chock full of those people you and your cartoon now decry as 'unemployed losers'. Its funny the way you say it just like your parents called the people in your generation "in need of a haircut and a bath".

And my generation is now exploiting the internet. Did I say "Exploit"? Shall we call it what it is? Let's call it a revolution!( quick, get that Beatles record, where’s that "you say you want a revolution"- I so want to rip that to an MP3 and provide a link right here.) And since were throwing metaphors around, Those "barbarians at the gates" that you are hearing? Those "barbarians" are people like me, who can reach more people in an afternoon than you could do in the first 10 years of your underground 'fighting against the man' career. Only we aren’t underground, were that 'evil middle class' America you railed so much about when you still had hair on your head and not in your ears. Thanks to your generation, we don’t have to go through people you to talk to each other any more. We control the means of production comrade.

But here’s a clue to the man who probably still owns a typewriter and a VCR:

We went to school with people who had been evacuated from Vietnam, who escaped the new 'peoples socialist paradise' on rickety rafts only to be attacked by pirates, sold into slavery or killed in the south china seas. They weren’t escaping your version of a 'peoples paradise’; they were escaping reeducation camps and genocide. You told us that would never happen if we left Vietnam. You told us it would be peace. It was peace, but it was the 'peace of the grave'. The communists killed people en masse and then enslaved what was left of the people living in the south, but you said that would never happen. Your generation lied, people died. 7 million people died. And now lots of the Vietnamese lucky enough to get away live in southern California, and they vote Republican.

We don’t think America is a bad place. We think its a pretty damn nice place. We cant help but notice the people that risk their lives to come here are all smiling when the arrive, almost as if they were happy to be here. Imagine that! Perhaps they haven’t been reading your cartoon or listening to Air America. Maybe if we put Al Franken on the Air in Tijuana, that might stop the illegal immigration problem( oh if only we could warn them Gary, if only...) We don’t need to translate Air America to Spanish, the language of the upper class yellow coward is universal around the world. The only people we see in this country who stagger around unhappily are ones with the Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers on their cars. We don’t think the military are baby killers. We honor our troops, We honor the past, We honor the dead. We respect the living. My generation didn’t need a draft, it volunteered! 'Greatest Generation'? Well, we think that gene skipped a generation. Your generation wants to lay prostrate at the feet of those who killed innocent people in Manhattan, wants to equate Mohammed Attas soldiers in Guantanmo to the likes of Martin Luther King in a Birmingham jail. This generation has given its life to go kill those who killed us and to help spread the liberty of democracy, yes - I said it, liberty , Democracy AND YES, FREEDOM to those who are enslaved. Your generation sneers at the very idea of such a thing. Your generation thinks the only thing the world needs to be liberated from is us. You think that because some of us don’t want to have our tax money go to 'piss christ' that we don’t have freedom, while women who were shot in the back of the head for kite flying in Afghanistan wonder just what the hell your generation is talking about.

We dont think the New York Times knows its ass from a hole in the ground. Does the name Jason Blair right a bell, oh how bout Maureen "I’m on vacation, more about rummy and poppy later" Dowd, or Paul' Cant find your socks? Its Bush’s Fault!" Krugman? Journalists... oh yeah, right on! We don’t think Woodward and Bernstein would be able to make an interesting blog even if they hired Sekimori to design it and Roger L. Simon to write for them. They sure as hell wouldn’t allow comments and trackbacks to fact check their ass. If Bob Woodward would've posted the Bill Casey book as a post on a blog, and insta-lanche would have crushed it in about 15 minutes. You don’t think so? Ask Isikoff about that 'Koran Flushing' story, you know the one that killed 60 people around the world and turned out not to be true. Isikoff lied, people died. That’s what your generation called journalism. My generation calls it "hack-tivism", because that’s what it is. Yeah sure, Isikoff, Dowd and Kristoff are getting paid for it. For now...

You're a leftist and used to be funny. P.J. O'Rourke was a leftist and now he's not, but he grew up, which is a normal thing for most men everyone except you, Michael Jackson and peter pan. Now he is in his 50s and yet he's still funny but he’s not a leftist anymore. I suggest you give him a call sometime. There is nothing wrong with trying to act like your 25, except when you’re in your 60's. There’s nothing worse than an old fart singing about teenage angst except for an aged elitist east coast ivy league cartoonist who just realized that he’s done nothing for the betterment world but shop on Sundays at pottery barn.

The day of centralized control is over Mr. Trudeau, and if you were in my generation, you'd know that. The day of the subversive cartoonist has also passed, but I suspect you probably did know that.

"power to the people"? Absolutely friggin right. And At T1 Speeds no less!!

Oh, and we'll still be here after you and yours are gone. We'll remember you, but I don’t think your gonna like what we tell our kids about what your generation did to the world.

Republican Prison Scandal

Gasp! Another Prison Scandal! How can that be!


Needless prisoners deaths? Roughly One Inmate Death per week? Why Havent I heard this before? Medical malfeasance? Oh, Say It Isnt So!

Oh no, It gets worse:

An inmate's spine was injured in a fight.

A doctor refused to believe the inmate's claim that he couldn't move, and the doctor wrenched the inmate's head and neck during the examination, aggravating his paralysis.

An inmate reported to the infirmary seeking emergency treatment with signs of shock.

A doctor already under investigation for two previous suspicious deaths prescribed antibiotics for what he said was bronchitis. When the inmate collapsed on the way back to his cell, the guards brought him back. The doctor ordered that the inmate be given intravenous fluids, but when the staff could not find a vein, the inmate was simply returned to his cell. The inmate died the next day from a serious lung ailment.

Man, how will the Muslims ever forgive us? This is just going to formet more recruiting for al-queda. I just knew this was going to happen.

Oh…My…GOD!!!! DICK DURBIN WAS RIGHT!!!! ALERT THE PRESS! COME AND SEE THE VIOLENCE INHERENT IN THE SYSTEM! LOOK, LOOK DETAINEES REALLY ARE BEING REPRESSED.

Wait a second? Where in Cuba is “San Quentin”? Oh, its not in Cuba, its Blue State California, right in center of the ‘Bluest of the Blue’ counties, Marin County. Howard Dean is considered a ‘right winger’ in Marin. This is Barbara Boxers home territory. Both Senators and the entire legislature is in Democratic party and has been for years.

Oh, Oh....

Oh look, the Governor is Republican, so that makes it a worthy story after all. Ah, good, we can relax. For a second there, I thought we might have a problem. Whew…! That was close.

Safe Simple Soon

Considering the fact that our current Space Transportation System fails every 50 flights, I have to say I have no argument at all against this sober clear headed alternative.

The Space Shuttle is a disaster. It costs more to launch a Space Shuttle than it did to use 1960s generation Saturn V boosters. The Shuttle has never met its mission objectives, it can never meet its objectives. The Shuttle was originally meant to fly weekly. Then monthly. At the rate we are going it will be once every 24 months, but given its regular failure every 50 flights, thats a blessing in disguise. The continued use of the shuttle cuts money from other programs that could move the nation further into space and recklessly endangers lives on every flight.

It costs beyond its budget.
It cant meet its mission objectives.
Its a fundamentally unsafe platform and can never be made to meet the standards of safety set with the 1960s technology standards.

The Shuttle kills. Every 50 flights. And your paying for it.

What was once an Icon of American Engineering is now an ugly symbol of a government program run amuck.

Its time to end the Shuttle and re-ignite the space program.

Nostradamus Predicts

No matter who is chosen by the President to replace Justice O'Connor, both sides will find a good reason to hate the new Supreme Court Justice. They will also not shut up about it for years.


We will watch a series of good people who have worked their lives in public service to the nation have the private contents of lives thrown into the dumpster of politics so that a bunch of not-so-good reprobates can feel politically relevent. So much for the honor of public service.

Hollywood actors will stand on stage and pontificate about subjects of which they no nothing, (like potential Supreme Court nomimees for example )yet they will get the bulk of the sound bites on network news as if they did. Strangely, these sound bites will occur just prior to a shocking expose on "whats wrong with our culture?" presented by the live-at-5 team for channel 7 ABC news. No one will find this odd but me.

Thanks to the political orientation of the news that interrupts the radio twice an hour with what they consider valid headlines, I will have to hear the following question asked by my children, "Daddy, whats abortion?". Thanks to Network news and the public education system, my kids now think the Supreme Court performs abortions, our current president is a time travelling chimpanzee named " hitler" who escaped from Germany in 1945 to the modern world, who no one likes but got elected anyway because Fox tv controls our minds and if you say his first name, "Bush", some people will fall on the ground and froth at the mouth, and the last President had a secretary who lived under his desk and who left her blue dress over his house by accident. If I've told them once I've told them a thousand times, please stop watching CNN...

The first nomination, whoever it is and no matter how qualified and generally outstanding as a Jurist, will not make it through the nomination process, eventually being forced to drop out 'for personal reasons". The second will go into meltdown over a trival molehill sized personal issue blown up to Mount Everest proportions and will politely withdrawl ( on a Friday, after 3:00 Pacific). The third, who will also be the worst of the three nominations will make it through not because of qualification but because of the fatigue of the aged infirmed members of the Senate simply running out of gas.Two weeks later, Chief Justice Rhenquist will resign. Walter Reed Hospital will run out of B-12 shots and Supplemental Oxygen for the Members of Congress.


Howard Dean will say something really,really dumb. John Kerry will also, only none of us will be able to make sense of what he says,except the part where he thinks we are all rubes for voting for Bush.

Nancy Pelosi will lose her train of thought in mid rant against the Bush Administration and its policies. No one will notice.

Harry Reid will not provide the cunning gutter level leadership or backstabbing ruthlessness we came to expect from Tom Daschle. Network news will interview Tom Daschle as if he were still in the Senate.

Senator Chuck Schumer will at some point during his never ending monologue for no one but himself,over the top of his glasses, question one of the nominees on their stance on the second amendment,acting as if it the Second Amendment really wasnt in the Constitution. But wait, thats not the prediction, the prediction is he will do it while he impersonates the voice and manner of Vincent Price, only without the madhouse giggle at the end of his questioning.

Ann Coulter will say something to inflame the Democrats. I will laugh intensely. I will wonder who she has to sleep with to get a Supreme Court nomination. I will feel ashamed at even thinking such a thing. I will work on my inner dialogue...

Glenn Reynolds will say 'indeed' at least once in the next 30 days and reference Tom Maguire daily, if not hourly as the upcoming circus unfolds.

Robert Byrd will remind us all every single day why 'foghorn leghorn' was such a funny Warner Brothers cartoon, and yet still managed to make more sense than the Jurassic Senator from West Virginia.
