It cant be done: Part II
NASA Satellite photo showing the Mexican-Guatemala border visible from space. Why? Because its fenced in. Check the angle shaped jungle discoloration in the middle, as well the dark line ( thats a "fence" folks) thats leading to the coastline.
Here's a view from National Geographic thats a little closer:

What's My Point?
1. Come talk to me about changes to immigration policy when we have an established and recognzied border with Mexico, because as things stand today, we dont have a border.
2. Dont tell me "it cant be done", because heres proof that it is.

Not to really, really disagree with your proposition, just your supportive facts:
How many Guatemalans really, really, REALLY want to get into Mexico?
How many see *Mexico* as the "Land of Opportunity"?
I may well be wrong, but I suspect the numbers involved are at least a couple orders of magnitude less. As a problem, it's non-linear. 100,000 people wanting to cross your border is not just 1/10th as tough to prevent as 1,000,000.
Again: I don't disagree with your proposition, only that your proof is abysmally insufficient for showing its practicality.

think of it this way, mexico is the "gateway to opportunity".
Or try this, Mexico didnt spend all that money on the fence just because it matches the hedges in the garden.

Hi... I was temepted just to let this one slide, but simply couldn't.
I'm an U.S. citizen who has lived in Guatemala for the past 17 years. I have travelled countless times from Guatemala to various places in southern Mexico by plane, bus, boat, car, and even on foot.
While there are rivers, farms, and even dense rainforest on the border between the two countries, I can assure you that there is NO fence.
I'm not exactly sure what your photos show, (perhaps roads, rivers, or irrigation canals) but a physical border between these two countries does not exist.
Just thought you'd be interested in a "on-the-ground" perspective!
Sincerely,
Rob Mercatante

I'd just like to say that this reminds me of that episode of the simpsons where the colour of grass is darker in Shelbyville.
Mexico is Springfield.
