Democrats fail to stop American in-surge-ncy

You know two can play at this 'war of expectations' thing;

3,200 new US troops arrive in Baghdad
Despite the best efforts of the highest priced punditry, Democrats have failed again to stop a growing number of American troops from entering the Bagdhad area.

3,200 troops from the so called "82nd Airborne" division entered the city unopposed, supported by much of the local populace, who have been quietly supporting the outsiders. Recent attacks on American Insurgents by the Iranian and Democrat supported Badr Brigade have resulted in severe losses and a general retreat of Iraqi insurents that is now seen occuring across the region. While scattered resistence is offered by the Badr brigade, it is noted that not a single city that has been captured and occupied by the American Insurgents has ever been recaptured by the now floundering Iraqi and Iranian forces.

While no news organization has come out said so publically, it now appears to this reporter that all is lost in Iraq, and that Democrats should being pulling out of the region immediately if their lack of credibility in foreign affairs is to remain intact.

Yet, despite this clear loss of inititive, leading as some would say to the inevitable impression of being in "a quagmire", Democrats have instead chosen a policy of "stay the course" in their war against the growing presence of Americans in the Middle East.

hmmm... hey thas kinda fun, I'll have to start my day like that more often.

You use the line "3,200 troops from the so called "82nd Airborne" division."

I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

When writers put "so-called" in front of something, they usually do it either to question or to detract from what follows.

Then you go on to put "82nd Airborne" in quotes.

In fact, the unit that moved into Baghdad over the weekend is a significant part of the 82nd Airborne Division -- notice no "so-called," and no quotes around the division's name -- to wit, the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division.

I've read somewhere in the past week or so that the 2nd BCT has more time in combat operations in the past decade or so than any similarly sized unit in the army.

It is a top-notch brigade in a top-notch Army division.

As for the 82nd being an airborne division, that is exactly what it is.

The whole division is made up of paratroopers from infantrymen and artillerymen to legal assistants and chaplain's assistants. They all jump out of airplanes regularly.

And they are all prepared -- and do -- go to any hot spot in the world on very short notice -- short notice here being usually a few days warning, sometimes a few hours.

Best wishes,

this post is a raw attempt at humor. its not my own feelings towards the 82nd airborne but a parody attempt to reflect what often passes for reporting in the real world.

journalists always give the benefit of the doubt to the insurgents while being decidedly skeptical of the US military.
